I am very impressed with the 1878 model haversack. The attention to deatail and price should appeal to anyone interested in representing the soldiers of the very late 1870s through the 90s. You have captured the nuances of this American icon very well. I love color, the stippled stud button on the meatcan pouch and the ration bags and utensil sheaths and all for an amazingly low price! The leather shoulder strap is also very good and easliy dyed black for early use. Thanks for offering this amazing item. It goes well with your early line of haversacks and accouterments. I highly recomend this bag.

I really like the heavy duty canvas construction. I use mine for picking up mail from my mailbox, which is about 1/2 mile down the mountain from my cabin. I also carry hiking rations in it when ridge walking. Works great! Now if only someone would make a reproduction indian wars / Span-Am mess kit to go with it....

Im really impressed with the quality of this bag; there are a few extremely minor sewing flaws and some odd discoloration on some of the webbing, but other than that its really well made and the materials are great quality. And, it comes with the condiment bags and utensil leathers! This haversack can't be beat...even by some originals.

Very well made and sturdy reproduction, for an astonishingly low $28 (plus S&H). The canvas and stitching seem to be very well made, certainly good enough for a military contract even in the 1890s. Color is about the same as an original from 1900 or so, I am not the expert on the canvas colors of the time period so I couldn''t say for certain.
All in all: sturdy, accurate, and usable reproduction at a low enough price to be able to use it and abuse it. Frankly I''m amazed at the quality of the haversack for the price level, the leather strap is accurate but priced accordingly for its quality. I will let you know how it holds up aboard the Cruiser OLYMPIA!
