This is a great hat my ARVN friends tell me we're originally made by various tailors in Saigon back in the day, and influenced by American western movies. I also suspect some influence in materials similar to the French colonial hats, also sold by WPG.
My hat is the largest size offered, 7 3/4, which is also .marked 62 cm and fits my head perfect!
I am also impressed by the inside of the hat, finished in blaze orange, a feature often seen by soldiers wearing inside out for aerial recognition at landing zones to distinguish themselves as friendlies.
I am very impressed with the quality of this hat, and hope other variants of this hat are offered, especially in beo gam, Vietnamese for leopard pattern, variation of frog skin camo.
For me truly a timely release as I have recently taken a strong interest in the MACV SOG Advisorrs and ARVN Rangers.
