My shaving kit arrived today. It's an excellent little kit, with a caveat, which I'll get to presently.

The pouch alone is worth the price. In addition to what's shown on the photos, there's a sort of "pocket" you can't see behind everything, which is just big enough to put something like a styptic pencil, a mustache comb or a pair of small scissors, making for a more complete grooming kit than what you see.

The razor blades are nondescript and unremarkable. You can get razor blades by the hundred for $10 from Amazon. These will get used just like the rest I have.

As for the razor itself...I wouldn't use it on a dare. The geometry is all wrong, too much blade sticks out the sides (allowing the blade to flex enough to cut yourself to ribbons) and it's a downright terror - a safety razor minus the safety part. That said, its inclusion is worthwhile, so as to give the new owner - or perhaps one who is new to old-fashioned double-edge safety razors - an idea of what fits in the little case. I have a good razor whose head and handle are the exact same size, but altogether better. It was helpful to know that it will fit perfectly.

This company markets things primarily for reenactors; however, I'm no reenactor. Everything I've bought from them - and I've bought quite a bit - is stuff I use every day. So it will be with this handy little razor holder - it's going in my travel bag and will be a useful & worthwhile addition. Despite the atrocity of the razor itself, the kit in its entirety gets five stars because the handy little case is worth the asking price all on its own.
