US M1917 Pistol Lanyard

The M1917 Pistol Lanyard was issued from 1917 through WWII. It was developed because the M1905 lanyard did not fit the M1911 pistol well. The lanyard was supplemented later by the M1942 lanyard. It is suitable for an MP impression from the period.

This reproduction is described as museum quality and is almost indistinguishable from original lanyards. It looks and feels 100% authentic. The lanyard matches British web gear as if it were an original part of it.

The spring clip is a common point of concern, with some finding it weak or not closing properly. Some lanyards ship with the spring clip on the outside of the hook, requiring adjustment. The spring closure is not made of spring steel and may fail after repeated use.

The lanyard works well with the M1911A1 pistol, fitting a lanyard-looped mainspring housing. It also fits the trigger guard of a Ruger SP101 perfectly without needing a holster. The lanyard also fits a Webley revolver well.

The lanyard is primarily for display with a gun and is not expected to see heavy use. The spring closure is not made of spring steel and may fail after repeated use. Some lanyards have had the spring break at first use.

The lanyard is long enough to be worn with the loop end around the shoulder. The slip grommet works well for this purpose. The length allows for various ways of wearing it.
