UK Early WWII P-37 Denim Battledress Jackets

This is a reproduction of an early WWII pattern P-37 jacket. The original denim battledress was produced later in WWII. The reproduction is copied exactly from an original set. It is suitable for a British WW2 battle tunic impression.

The jacket is made from cotton twill fabric. It is a heavy-weight denim fabric. The denim is of top quality and should last for years. The fabric and stitching are of really good quality.

The jacket is an olive green colour that fades out to match original garments. The colour is sometimes described as between olive and brown, leaning more towards olive after the first wash. Some jackets are a dark green, while others are more of a dark brown. The colours of early denims varied widely in the original garments.

The jacket tends to run a little bit small, particularly in the waist. It is advisable to order one size up from your usual size. For example, if you are a 38 or 40 chest, a 40 top may have a snug waist. Regular and Long sizes have a 6-inch body taper from chest to waist, while Extra Large sizes have a 2-inch body taper.

If you are over 6ft, it is recommended to get the tall version of the jacket. The jackets are cut a little too short in the regular sizes. Ordering a tall size, even if you are not particularly tall, can result in a perfect fit.

The buttons are extremely hard to get buttoned initially. The buttonholes are often too tight for the buttons and may need to be widened by a couple of millimetres. Some jackets arrive without buttons, but these can be dispatched by the seller.
